supernatural is normal

As Christians living in the modern era, we are faced with the unique challenges of the day. And while these challenges are no greater than the disciples of old, they have an intensity that has never been seen before on the earth. Wars and rumors of wars, global catastrophes, such as fears of economic collapse, and the like all shape the current worldview.

In perilous times such as these, the disciples of old sent letters written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to give hope and peace to those who were experiencing tumultuous times. Paul who was stoned twice and died once wrote, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21, NASB). John the Beloved, whose legend says he was boiled in oil, wrote, "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith (1 John 5:4, NASB). James, the brother of Jesus, who was thrown from the top of a building the height of the temple, then stoned to death, wrote, "Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1:2-4, NASB). Further, Paul wrote of how he was beaten, stoned, and even shipwrecked multiple times. Before he was beheaded for his faith, he wrote, (Philippians 4:12-13, CPDV) "I know how to be humbled, and I know how to abound. I am prepared for anything, anywhere: either to be full or to be hungry, either to have an abundance or to endure scarcity. Everything is possible in him who has strengthened me." All of these men who had personally experienced intense persecution for the cause of Christ endured and spoke of victory all the while.

How were they able to find the fortitude to go through such trials and yet accomplish such exploits so that we read of their great faith approximately 2000 years later? They walked in the supernatural. Their supernatural, intimate relationship with God was more real to them than anything thing natural in this world. They lived knowing they were in the presence of God at all times. They put their full trust in God to perform His words in them. They did not see this as a miracle. They saw this as the norm. "These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My Name, they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues..." (Mark 16:17, NASB). Every day they challenged societal doubt in our LORD with signs wonders and miracles. Every. Single. Day.

Our Lord compels us to walk in the same manner as these.

We must stop declaring that which is not from God as normal. As Christians in this modern age, have lowered our expectancy to that which is a product of the curse and beneath our God-given potential. We must arise and know that God's glory is upon us. We must normalize walking in the supernatural and expect God's grace and mercy and blessing to be upon us every single day. We must let His love envelop us and let His grace upon us be normal. God is the great I AM; He is our Source. He is our Love. We are His beloved people.
